What is hysteroscopy?
Hysteroscopy is a way to look inside the uterus. A hysteroscope is a thin, telescope-like device that is inserted into the uterus through the vagina and cervix. It may help us diagnose or treat a uterine problem. It is often combined with a curettage, which samples the lining of the uterus.
Why is a hysteroscopy performed?
To diagnose certain problems, we need to look directly into the inside of the uterus.Common reasons for undergoing a hysteroscopy include the assessment of heavy periods, abnormal vaginal bleeding, post -menopausal bleeding, fibroids, polyps, or as part of the assessment of fertility. You should have a clear understanding of your reason for this surgery —— if not, please ask your doctor.
How is hysteroscopy performed?
Hysteroscopy is minor surgery that may be done in a operating room. It is performed under local or general anesthesia depending upon the pts condition and whether its diagnostic or operative procedure . The cervix is widened (dilated)and a small 2.9mm telescope is passed to look at the inside of the uterus. A sample of the lining is often taken to be examined more closely. It is also possible to remove a polyp or a pedunculated fibroid with a operative hysteroscope ( 4mm). This procedure does not involve any cuts or stitches to the abdomen. A diagnostic hysteroscopy takes approximately 30 minutes but in an operative hysteroscopy – you can expect to be in theatre and recovery for 1.5 to 2.5 hours also.

Reason that contributes to fallopian tube blockage
Fallopian tubes are female reproductive organs that connect the ovaries and the uterus. Every month during ovulation, which occurs roughly in the middle of a menstrual cycle, the fallopian tubes carry an egg from an ovary to the uterus. If a fallopian tube is blocked, the passage for sperm to get to the eggs, as well as the path back to the uterus for the fertilized egg, is blocked. Common reasons for blocked fallopian tubes include pelvic inflammatory disease, Endometriosis, Fibroids, STIs, past ectopic pregnancy or abdominal surgery. Talk to our fertility expert before treatment to understand your chances for a successful pregnancy with blocked fallopian tubes.

Threatened miscarriages in women
A threatened abortion occurs when a pregnant patient at less than 20 weeks gestation, presents with vaginal bleeding, The cervical os is closed on physical exam. The patient may also experience abdominal cramping and pain. Vaginal bleeding usually begins first followed by cramping abdominal pain hours to days later. Bleeding is the most predictive risk factor for pregnancy loss. More than half of threatened abortions will abort. The risk of spontaneous abortion, in a patient with a threatened abortion, is less if fetal cardiac activity is present.

How to Cope up with multiple miscarriages
Recurrent miscarriage is defined as two or more consecutive, spontaneous pregnancy losses. Approximately 15% of pregnancies end in miscarriage, which is defined as the loss of a pregnancy before 20 weeks of gestation. Most miscarriages occur within the first 12 weeks of gestation.
Women with certain conditions may also have an increased risk for recurrent miscarriages. Antiphospholipid syndrome, diabetes mellitus , thyroid conditions, and polycystic ovarian syndrome are all relatively common potential causes in this category.
Most of these above conditions are treatable when diagnosed early.

Symptoms of Ovulation
The length of the menstrual cycle varies from woman to woman, but the average is to have periods every 28 days. Regular cycles that are longer or shorter than this from 21 to 40 days, are normal.
When are you most fertile ?
Theoretically, there’s only a short time when woman can get pregnant, and that is the time around ovulation. It’s difficult to pinpoint exactly when ovulation happens but in most women, it happens around 10 to 16 days before the next period. It’s not accurate to say that all women are fertile on day 14 of the menstrual cycle. This might be true for woman who have a regular, 28-day cycle, but it won’t apply to women whose cycles are shorter or longer.
If you have regular cycles and yet trouble conceiving within first 1 year of your marriage :

Diabetes in pregnant women can even lead to abnormalities in the child.

- Minimum of 3 to 5 days abstinence is a must prior to this test for proper results
- If u have a problem collecting semen for this test – pls inform ur consultant – Drs can guide u.
- If u have a abnormal semen analysis – discuss the report with ur fertility consultant and take adequate treatment

Anti Mullerian Hormone
AMH or Anti-Mullerian Hormone is a blood test which will be routinely recommended by your fertility specialist or your Gynecologist. This is atest which helps to evaluate the quantity and quality of eggs present inside your body. Basically this marker of ovarian Reserve helps your doctor to assess your response to the ovarian stimulation.
However, If You thought if you AMH Value is not normal, then, you need to undergo IVF, well, that’s not exactly true. AMH doesn’t help to understand if you will become pregnant or not.
Along with AMH, your age, your antral Follicle count (AFC) also play a vital role in assessing your ovarian Reserve.
- Q- IS it Compulsory for patients with a low or a poor AMH to consider Donor Oocytes?
- A- Considering Donor Oocytes can be a tricky and a sentimental decision for a lot of patients. Though, its often seen that patients who have a very poor AMH, don’t respond well to stimulation, every case with a low AMH Should be interpreted on a case basis based on the preference of the couple.
- Q – What day of the menses does one need to do AMH Blood Test?
- A – This can be done on any day of the menstrucal cycle.
- Q – Does undergoing previous surgeries on the ovary reduce the AMH?
- A – Yes surely, especially in cases of Endometriosis, where a poorly done surgey can grossly damage the ovarian reserve.
- Q- IS there a condition where the AMH Value Will be raised?
- A – Yes, this typically occurs in cases of PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). AMH Values more than 10 may be associated with poor Egg Quality.
Obesity and Menstrual Cycle
Studies indicate that losing just 5% of body weight can improve fertility hormone levels and support cycle regularity.
